The Celtic support have never been short of invention when it comes to ways of hailing their heroes or re-telling the history of thei club..
Given that the Irish and the Scots are renowned for having a certain way with words it is perhaps not surprising that for Bhoys fans poetry was among the very earliest means of expressing their admiration and devotion to the club and its players. While the quality of some efforts might fall a little short of the work of Yates or Burns, others are truly emotive and powerful pieces of work. What unites all the poems here though is the fact that there’s no denying the passion the poets show for the Celts.
Many of these poems – dating from the very earliest days of the club to the more modern era – were published in newspapers, fanzines and club publications like the Celtic View. In this section are a selection of these poems.
