This is a tremendously sad but revealing story all the same. The Poor Relief records and references to the Poorhouse are very moving. Looks as though drink laid Mick McKeown low the same way it did with his old team-mate Dan Doyle. Both former publicans and successful players on both sides of the border yet both ended up in terrible states.
