Biog
Left-sided Czech defensive prospect who arrived on trial ahead of the 08/09 transfer window.
He was handed a four year deal although his club-mate Anton Fantis, who had also been on trial, was passed over. It was reported that Celtic beat off competition from clubs such as AC Milan for Misun's signature.
He finished the season in the reserves, though he was still eligible for the U19s. He also made the first team bench due the SPL rules on mandatory U21 substitutes. He was seen by many as an answer to Celtic's well-documented left-back problems although, at 6ft 2in, he could (and often did) play at centre-half.
On the eve of 2009-10 he damaged his cruciate ligament in Tony Mowbray's first match in charge and the whole season was then washed out by injury. This rotten luck was perhaps an omen of how things would pan out generally in Mowbray's reign. On the plus side for Misun, the left-backs Mowbray brought in – Fox and Braafheid – soon departed. As did Strachan's perennial favourite Lee Naylor.
In July 2010 Misun was taken on the North American pre-season tour by incoming manager Neil Lennon. He will be hoping to put his injury woes behind him and recapture his best form during 2010-11.
Joins a growing collection of ex-Celts at Dundee – for a month's loan – on 18.9.10. Returned on the 16th of the following month, as the hapless Dark Blues sagged into another period of administration.
He wasn't given a chance in the first team, and English third division (okay League One!) strugglers Swindon Town signed him up in Jan 2011.
Injuries killed off his opportunities, and he was lauded to make a breakthrough to the first team but sadly not to be. We hope him the best.
