Tom O'Neill joined Celtic Football Club as a Youth Coach in charge of the U16 Youth Academy students in 1999. He had previously worked as a coach for Falkirk.
His job was to work with the U16 pro Youth Leaguers not only as a coach but also to be involved in Youth Recruitment and also in the provision of tactical briefs for the first team. In the 1999-00 season however he was listed as U16 Development Coach.
Following the sacking of John Barnes, Eric Black and Terry McDeremott in February 2000 he was promoted by Kenny Dalglish to the position of Scouting Coordinator. In this position he travelled more and more and had better control of all scouting activities at all levels. He still continued to provide tactical briefs to the first team.
He is currently a scout for Rangers or Sevco, having moved to the dark side.
