Directions
No tube station for Esatdio Nacional, you have to take the overground to get there. It's too far away from centre of town for a taxi.
Travel
1)
Head to Cais do Sodre underground/tube station (last stop at the end of the line, furthest south).
2)
Then change to the mainland trains (2 floors up from Underground) and take the Cascais line to Cruz Quebrada. Takes about 15 mins. Its a picturesque ride along the way so worth the trip alone.
3)
When you get to Cruz Quebrada you will see what looks like floodlights popping up over trees. Follow the road outside the station as it takes a curve to the left and you will come to a set off traffic lights at a junction. Take a right.
4)
The stadium should be signposted from here. Just follow that road up the tree lined avenue and you will find the magnificent Estadio Nacional (note its a wee bit of a walk up a not too steep hill).
Note:
– Buy a ticket for the train BEFORE you get on or the ticket collector will throw you off at the next stop.
– The Estadio Nacional is a fair bit away from the main city centre for a taxi journey.
