Trivia

  • Celtic make several changes from their last match against Rangers, while perhaps not surprisingly the visitors name an unchanged side from that game at Ibrox in October, which the home side won 3-0.
  • The Glasgow Herald reports that 40,000 spectators watched the annual meeting between the Scots amateur side and their English equivalent Corinthians.
  • The Herald also has a Leader on the trouble with various warring factions at Deir ez-Zur on the banks of the Euphrates under a heading "The Making of Mesopotamia" LINK

Match report from The Scotsman, 6th January 1920
[…] Over 70, 000 spectators witnessed the game between Celtic and Rangers at Parkhead. Despite the treacherous nature of the ground a fast game was served up although many mistakes were made by both sides. In the first half Rangers had slightly the better of matters, but could not push home their outfield advantage. The Celtic scored five minutes after the resumption, Cringan beating Lock following a corner kick. Three minutes later Muirhead headed the equaliser after clever play by Paterson. The play to the finish was keenly contested, and over all a draw was a fitting result.
