Biog
Dundonian striker who emerged from the Celtic Boy's Club stable to successfully lead the line for the U18s and ultimately win a Pro contract in 1994. Very highly rated as a youngster, he played for Scotland Schoolboys at Wembley in 1991 while already attached to Celtic.
Unable to properly establish himself in the reserve team amidst increasing competition in Tommy Burns' first season, Paterson was released in May 1995. He moved closer to home for the next season and was fixed up with Division Two Forfar Athletic in August. However, just two league starts in the number nine shirt (and six sub appearances) were to follow then Paterson was unseen after October 1995 as the more experienced Higgins and Hannigan took the striking positions with the relegation-bound 'loons' struggling at the foot of the table.
It appears Ally then embarked on a long and fruitful career in the Tayside Junior circuit and famously turned out for Lochee United in Lubo Moravcik's last game in Scotland.
