Brought over from CSKA Sofia as a fifteen year old trialist in January 2007, just as Bulgaria's accession to the EU took place and many of the restrictions on signing their players were lifted. He is a creative central midfielder whose preference is to occupy "the hole" behind the strikers.
The son of journeyman midfielder Slavcho Pavlov, who had played professionally in Bulgaria as well as Turkey and Malta. Young Tomislav played well enough in his outings for the Academy U17 team for Celtic to serve notice of their intention to sign him in March 2007, with a £60,000 fee mentioned.
At this juncture Scotland's ever-irresponsible fourth estate plumbed new depths by whipping up Tomislav's innocuous comments about one-day playing for Barcelona into a bizarre 'Celts in Crisis' headline.
Out of contract in 2009, it is believed the club wanted to keep Pavlov since he was eligible for another year at U19 level. However his dad had other ideas and fixed him up with a return to CSKA Sofia.
After six months in CSKA's B team, Pavlov joined his hometown club Minyor Pernik on a two and a half year contract in January 2010. He will wear the no. 10 shirt while turning out for 'the miners' in Bulgaria's top division.
