“Can’t tell you in words about how grateful and proud I am to have ever represented this club and played for these fans!”
Atajic (2023)

Another one brought in for the future, Bahrudin came from Malmo FF (Sweden) with the belief that he could make his mark at Celtic. This tall attacking youngster seemed to have the potential for the first team.

Made his low-key debut as a sub in May 2013 v Dundee Utd. However, he sealed an incredible welcome to the Scottish game with a delightful debut goal against Motherwell, a chip shot over the goalkeeper in a 5-0 win in Dec 2013 in the 90th minute.

After that there were hopes he had some promise, and that goal indicated his potential.

He was deemed to be a very skilful player and a great finisher but still a bit lightweight and a bit fearful in the tackle. Something he could rectify with experience.

He was sent on loan to Shrewsbury Town to get more exposure as his opportunities at Celtic were limited, but his time there wasn’t very fruitful with no goals in around fourteen games.

With other youngsters having succeeded both ahead and after him, such as Tony Watt and Callum McGregor, then Bahrudin’s future was looking obviously to be away from Celtic. The first team was struggling with its set of strikers and couldn’t risk giving any further room to youngsters at the time (Callum McGregor had taken that coveted spot). The priority was for an already established goalscorer, so the circumstances weren’t helping him out.

He was freed on 1 September 2014 to give him the room to find an alternative club to help reboot his career.

We wished him the best and will be remembered fondly for that delightful goal.

Post-Celtic

He played across a number of clubs after Celtic including SJK (Finland), Zalgiris (Lithuania), Landskrona (Sweden), Mladost Doboj Kakanj (Bosnia), Gżira United (Malta) and BK Olympic (Sweden).
