Half-back Sandy Morrison made just one competitive appearance for the Bhoys.
Signed from Ayr in May 1907, Sandy Morrison made his solitary appearance for Celtic in a 1-0 victory for the recently crowned champions at Hibs on 8th May 1907. He was a try-out following a league title win, taking the place of Jimmy Weir for the day. No goals conceded but Jimmy Weir was back in the side for the next game as Celtic went on to draw 3-3 with Hearts away.
Sandy Morrison never played for the first team again (in competitive matches) but was given run-outs in some friendlies/benefit matches.
One of his friendly match appearances was v Clyde who possibly were impressed enough with him on the day, as then in October 1907 he was to leave Celtic Park and make the short trip to Shawfield to join Clyde. So it was a very short stay at Celtic.
He was to soon play for Clyde v Celtic on 9 Nov 1907 in a league match with Celtic winning 2-0.
Regardless, he got a runout with the Celtic first team during a golden era for the club. Celtic had just won the league & Scottish Cup double that season, so his chance to play with the greats for even just that one match is something that the rest of us can only dream of.
He later moved to Ayr and then Ayr Parkhouse, ending his career in 1911.
