Biog
Youth team striker who had previously played for the Trojans club in Derry. He began to get games for the U18 team in 2001/02 as other players moved up to the U21s, or, in Shaun Maloney's case, the first team.
In April 2002, Youth Coach Willie McStay said: "Lads like Kevin Ramsey have come in and done a great job for us. Although we will be missing Shaun Maloney, we will have Brian Prunty back from the U21s." In November 2002 Ramsey scored for the North's U19 team in a 4-0 win over Wales and featured as a sub in a less impressive 2-1 home defeat to Hungary. Club team-mate Michael McGovern was in goals.
In July 2003 Ramsey was drafted into NI's U20 Milk Cup squad, but by then was listed as a Derry City player. He began 2003/04 with Ballymena United but was dropped after failing to score in five league appearances. Limavady United signed him in January 2004 and the following season he found his scoring touch, hitting 18 in 30 as the Co. Derry side finished a creditable fifth in the Irish Premier Division.
In 2005 he switched to Institute and has been there ever since, barring a season in Donegal with Finn Harps in 2008. His progress at both clubs was derailed somewhat by an ankle broken on no less than five occasions.
