Trivia
- Deila’s second season in charge, John Collins his assistant.
- Aim is to achieve that illusive treble after failed in recent years.
- The first season without a Celtic v Rangers match or Edinburgh derby in the leagues since the season before league football began in 1890-91.
- Celtic win the league title, two in a row, a great achievement.
- Celtic fail to win treble, and don't even make the finals of either domestic cup.So singletrophy this season.
- Due to the removal of the liquidated Rangers from Scottish football, more so than ever the Celtic management are judged by performances in Europe. Shambles this season. Ronnie et al have little excuses in Europe and arejudged accordingly.
- Celtic in Champions League qualifiers. Required to go through three rounds to make the group stages but fail to do so and relegated to Uefa Cup Europa League group stages.
- Celtic in an easy Europa League group get humiliated by finishing bottom of the very weak group which incredibly saw the weakest team finish top. No wins, three draws. Ironically one of our better set of away performances as Celtic only lose one away game.
- Fortress Parkhead truly blown apart this season especially in Europe, with a poor home record.
- John Collins makes issues difficult by criticising other clubs for not providing the adequate competition Celtic need to achieve success in Europe. The rest of us just cringed.
- In the league, Aberdeen are main challengers and for a good spell looked as if they could have usurped us, but Celtic rallied and Aberdeen later collapsed. Many genuinely acknowledge (both within and outside Celtic circles) that Aberdeen should have taken the advantage and won the league. They squandered it.
- Transfers in general a failure, with little to write home about.
- Support dwindles at home games, tension growing against the board with many claiming Chief executive Peter Lawwell is behind all the signings. He denies this.
- Ronnie Deila resigns at end of the season, following cup defeat to Sevco. John Collins soon follows.
- Main bonus this season is the rise of young players, like Griffiths, Rogic, McGregor and especially Tierney. Elder players lowly rated this season. Is this where Ronny's real strength lies?
- TheRangers remained in the second tier this season following their defeat to Motherwell in plays offs in May 2015. Schadenfreude!
- Hearts returned to the Scottish Premiership, but Hibs remain in the second tier.
