Biog

A £30 buy from his hometown club Alva Albion Rovers, Thomas Sinclair was signed by Celtic in November 1927 despite overtures from Partick Thistle who wanted this “nicely-built defender“.

His first team debut came on 25th February 1928 in a 1-1 league draw at home to Aberdeen, with John Geddes also debutting.

The left-back would make just one more league appearance for the Hoops in a 3-0 defeat to Raith Rovers in the final league match of the season with Celtic again finishing behind to title winners Rangers. The result likely sealing the end for him at Celtic, and was also John Geddes’ second and last game for Celtic coincidentally.

He joined South Shields in 1928, where he went on to become a regular playing 174 games, and was there in 1929 when it changed its name to the more recognised Gateshead. He later moved to Alloa on trial where he is believed to have wrapped up his career in football.
