Central defender signed in summer 2008 after a one-month trial.
He had surprisingly been released from Aberdeen in April, just weeks after being drafted into the dons' squad for their European matches with Bayern Munich. The former St. Machar Academy pupil also won the SPL's 'rising star' award in February 2008 and had caps for Scotland at various youth levels up to U19.
The youngster made a solid start to his hoops career but his progress was derailed by a broken foot sustained on his reserve debut v. Motherwell on 29 September 2008. Although Strachan recovered his place after six months, he was released along with a host of other youth players in 2009.
After a spell on trial with Ayr, he signed a two-year deal with Peterhead in July 2009. Back in his native North-East, versatile Strachan has flourished in a midfield role.
NB: Ryan is no relation to Gordon and revealed that he never had any dealings with the then-manager, on account of the huge size of the playing staff.
