There are several ways of getting to Vila-real from Glasgow. There are no direct flights to Valencia, the closest airport to Vila-real from Glasgow but there are to both Alicante ( an hour and a half away approx ) and to Murcia –Alicante Sur ( two hours away ) . These are operated by Easy jet and Ryan air respectively.
If you do want to get to Valencia Airport then it would mean getting a flight to Stanstead and then another to Valencia.
This would be my preferred route, despite the change due to it being the most cost-efficient even though it is counted as two separate journeys as there are some great prices on the Glasgow to Stanstead route at the moment, 13 quid return last time I looked, and the Valencia flight is well priced right now too, about 70 pounds return, but of course these prices will change the longer you wait to book.
Prices range from 15 euros ( 11 quid approx ) to 30 euros ( 22 quid approx ) depending on the place.. There is a 5 star hotel in Vila-real but bookings for this should be made as soon as possible as September tends to be a busy month for them , a double room there would cost in the region of 80 euros per night per room a single is only a few euros cheaper so doubling up would be advisable.
. If you are finding difficulty in getting the type of accommodation you want in Vila-real there is also the option of booking in to one in Castellon which is a large town only 8-10 minutes drive away, however public transport at night time is not great and so you should keep in mind a 10 euro (6 quid) taxi journey if its after 10 pm.

Celtic fans praised for their great example to others

THE result against Villarreal this week may have been a disappointing one for Celtic but once again the Hoops supporters did the club proud, backing the team throughout the match and promoting a positive image of Celtic.
The people of Vila-real had already embraced Celtic supporters as friends after the clubs met in the UEFA Cup back in 2004, and the Celtic Submari Supporters’ Club continues to thrive in the Spanish town.
And the incredible reputation Celtic fans have throughout Britain and Europe was further enhanced after this week’s return visit to Vila-real.
Celtic Chief Executive Peter Lawwell said: “On behalf of the Club I would like to thank our supporters for the magnificent backing which they once again gave the team on Tuesday night.
“We have had extremely positive feedback from the local authorities in Spain with regards to the excellent behaviour of our fans and once again, they were a credit to the Club.
“As I have said before, we have developed an excellent relationship with the town of Vila-Real and the football club and we are pleased that through our visit we again enhanced this great connection which we have come to enjoy.
“Clearly, we were disappointed with the result. However, the team gave everything. Gordon and his team will continue to give their all for the club as they did on Tuesday evening and we hope that we can get positive results in our remaining Champions League matches.
“I would like to thank all our supporters for their continued backing.”
And the Spanish media were eager to hold up the Celtic supporters as an example to other fans of how to behave when following their team.
In an article after Tuesday’s game, the Spanish newspaper MARCA, said: “The fans of Villarreal and Celtic yesterday gave a lesson on co-operation between rival fans.
“In a festive atmosphere, both sets of fans came together in Casel De Festas. At 12.30 the mood of the Celtic party, which slowly filled the precinct, was lively. The Scottish fans disembarked from the buses wearing their team’s shirt, in the case of many of them in conjunction with the yellow of Villarreal.
“There were some wearing the traditional Scottish kilts and many of them holding beers, and why shouldn’t they?
“At midday queues began to form for the giant paella which was on offer to anyone who wanted it. Others bought scarves and shirts which to remember the historic day.
“Ernesto Buixander, the president of the Celtic Submari supporters’ club, said yesterday: ‘This has allowed people to make friends, enjoy the game and work together when needed.’
“This is a true lesson to the violent (fans).”
