From a newspaper report from the time.
The game started with the Celts kicking off, Madden getting the leather in motion. The game started with great dash on both sides, and it was early evident that the Northern players were well trained for the encounter. They kept the game very open, and displayed very fine passing on the run.
After Madden and Campbell had got well down, and the Northern had repaid these visitations, the Celtic forwards came away splendidly, and a hard shot from Brady went right into goal. His namesake between the Northern uprights handled the ball, but it was travelling with such speed that it was impossible for him to stop it, and the first goal thus went on for the Celtic, after about twenty-five minutes' play.
The Northern replied with a spurt, but were repulsed and Madden and Campbell had an unsuccessful try. When half-time was called the Celts were leading by 1 goal to 0.
In the second half, in attempting to return the ball, Greig, the right half of the Northern, unfortunately put it between his own posts, the Celts thus getting a second goal. It was hard lines, but there was some excuse for him, as the fog must have upset his calculations.
The Celts were playing hard enough, and the Northern were replying to their attacks in a spirited manner. A fine breakaway by the Northern gave them a likely opening. Kyle was too late, for a while he was steadying to shoot, Doyle dispossessed him of the ball.
Once more the Celtic forwards got on the ball, and, judging the position of the goalkeeper, Campbell shot clear through his legs.
The Celts continued to have the best of matters. It was quite dark latterly, and the Celts scored rapidly at the finish, when the result stood – Celtic, 6 goals; Northern 0 goals.
