From a newspaper report from the time.

The presence of the famous Celtic team at Bank Park brought fully 3,ooo spectators to witness what in ordinary circumstances would have been the League contest between Leith Athletic and this renowned combination.
The Celtic, however, were fully twenty minutes late in appearing on the field, and as darkness had set in when only thirty minutes of the second half had gone, the referee stopped the game and declared it no contest. The Athletic made a splendid appearance, and the match was drawn. In the circumstances, it will have to be replayed.
Laing opened for the Athletic in heavy rain. the Celts were the first to show up, and McMahon missed what appeared to be an easy chance from a pass across by McCallum.
just after, McCartney saved in the goalmouth, and as the result of further pressure, the visitors got a corner. The danger occasioned to the Athletic was ably turned aside by M McQueen, and backed by grand play on the part of G Anderson the Athleyic in an unmistakable manner, tested the resources of the Celtic defence. Steady defence advance by Reynolds and Doyle was sufficient to hold the Leith forwards in check, but, nevertheless, three times by H McQueen, Laing and Blessington, the ball was forced over Celtic lines. Then at the other end McMahon slipped and missed a sure chance.
Slack play followed, and then the spectators were on the tip-toe of excitement when McQueen essayed a throw-in to the goalmouth. A grand chance was given Mathieson, and amid shouts of satisfaction he placed the Athletic one up. Hereafter the game was of the fastest description notwithstanding the heavy ground.
Roused to the occasion, the Celtic forwards dashed off, and McMahon, with a neat header, equalised the game. The Celts now inflicted severe pressure on the Leith defence. Brady put the ball over the bar, and Madden struck the upright while Campbell and McMahon each in turn caused Burnside to kick out.
But true to traditions the Athletic were by no means dismayed, and a run to the other end by McLeod resulted in Laing, by a long shot, again giving Athletic the lead. Great cheering greeted this feat.
Half-time was called when the game stood – Leith Athletic, two goals; Celtic, one goal.
Hugh McQueen, in a great run, led the way for the Athletic on the game being resumed, but immediately McCallum dribbled the ball right to the other end and forced a corner. This was cleared, and a regular bombardment of Dolan’s charge followed.
Laing tried an overhead shot, which almost had effect, and then the Celts realising their position pulled themselves together, raced to the other end, and, by Campbell, again equalised the game.
The Celts put on severe pressure after this, the powerful physique of the Irishmen telling it’s tale.
The referee stopped the game soon after.
Result – Leith Athletic, two goals; Celtic, two goals.
