Trivia
- A new Celtic Supporters Association got off the ground. Formed by prominent Glasgow lawyer and lifelong Celtic supporter Baillie James Reilly it was set up as an organisation which would not be afraid to criticise the club. As support gathered they decided to call the group 'The Celtic Supporters and Shareholders Alliance'.
- Charlie Gallacher came in for Frank Brogan on the right wing. Rangers were unchanged.
- The game was marred by crowd trouble. 34 arrests were made during the game and from the end of the first half there was a constant round of pulling punters out of the Celtic end with the police subject to a rain of missiles. Long before the end the crowd at the Celtic end had thinned to a few thousand.
Review
Celtic's lack of organisation in the forwards was all too evident in the first half. Despite having the pressure they failed to score and in fact went a goal down to Wilson's headed goal from a Henderson corner. Chalmers had completely missed the ball when presented with a scoring chance four yards out a few minutes before this. Despite Celtic's territorial advantage in the first half and Chalmers' runs they just did not have the guile or it appeared ability to be able to score.
The second half was pretty much all Rangers
