Review
From the kick off John Hughes was at centre forward and Lennox out on the left wing. Celtic got a wonder start in this quarter final with John Hughes running onto a Willie Wallace pass and hitting a great shot into the roof of the net. But St Johnstone and manager Willie Ormond put up a strong fight and there was no further scoring in the first half.
After the break St J got the equaliser that had been threatening towards the end of the first half. Back came Celtic and Lennox and Chalmers scored in a five minute spell. Hall picked up one for St Johnstone and it was tense to the end.
In the other quarter finals, Rangers beat Airdrie 1-0, Morton won away 3-2 to Dundee Utd, and Aberdeen and Kilmarnock played out a 0-0 draw at Pittodrie.
