Celtic Career Review
A nippy right winger who was also fielded at inside left and outside left, from the Cranhill area who was signed to provisional forms while playing at amateur level for Drumchapel Strollers. With competition for places amongst the nascent 'Quality Street Kids' extremely fierce, Kenny accepted terms from top flight rivals St. Mirren in 1965 without having played for the Celtic first team and after being released by Celtic at the end of the 1964-65 season when there was a change in the way youth would be developed at the club.
In the summer of '67 he then switched to St. Johnstone and won plaudits for his displays over the following seasons, memorably locking horns with 'Jinky' Johnstone on occasion. This culminated in a £17,500 transfer to Heart of Midlothian in March 1973, before he wound down his career in 1977 with brief spells in the NASL with Toronto Metros-Croatia and as a 'trialist' with Arbroath.
