Review

Things looked bad during the game at Muirton Park. John Hughes was carried off with a leg injury on 35 minutes to be replaced by John Clark. Celtic were already a goal down. It took them the rest of the half and the loss of another goal to pull themselves together. St Johnstone played with cool aplomb against the lead leaders and deserved their lead at half time.
The Bhoys came out at the start of the second half two goals down and proceeded to turn the game around. Wallace headed home the first and then Tommy Gemmell fired in a shot which soun in off the post. With 15 minutes to play it was level and tense. In the last minute, and after Rennie had almost scored at the other end, Harry Hood got the winner for Celtic tapping home a Wallace header which came back off an upright.
McCarry and Millar were booked for St Johnstone and Jinky for Celtic. This was Jinky's third booking of the season which meant a trip to the SFA Disciplinary carpet and the possibility of a ban.
