Steve Archibald scored a sensational hat trick to put himself in the £1M bracket at Pittodrie. It was a perfect hat trick of right foot, left foot and header and he was a handful for the Celtic defenders for the 90 minutes.
Celtic had made a sensational start by scoring in the first minute. Alan Sneddon raced to the bye line and cut the ball back for Johannes Edvaldsson to crash the ball past Bobby Clark.
Archibald then took a hand in proceedings with his three goals, the pick of the bunch the third with a ferocious shot past Latchford.
Davie Provan gave Celtic hope for the second leg when he scored from a brilliant swerving free kick into the top right hand corner in 70 minutes.
