This match was played before 1500 spectators. Celtic early asserted their superiority, their quick combination outwitting the Mossfield youths. Madden, Campbell, and McMahon scored in quick succession. Hector made a raid on Doyle, but was easily repulsed. From a neat pass by Maley, Madden scored a fourth, and immediately afterwards Campbell scored a fifth. From a free-kick Hector missed for Battlefield, who were pressing at half-time.
Celts, 5 goals; Battlefield, nil.
On restarting from a fine centre by Campbell, Brady headed a sixth, and shortly after the same player notched the seventh. Brady accepted a pass, and scored an eighth. A penalty kick brought up the score to nine.
A one sided game ended – Celtic, ten goals; Battlefield, nil.

Gratifying progress is being made with the Celtic's new field. It is still in an unreclaimed condition, but soon there will be order where chaos now reigns. it will be one of the most expensive fields of the kind in Britain, although it will be rather expensive to keep up. But the Celts are quite alive to that and other responsibilities. they are ambitious, and it is this very ambition that gives one the impression that the enterprise, no matter how large, will be carried out with success.
