The Soul of Celtic is an attempt to discover exactly what moments from the club’s incredible history best sum up what it means to follow the Hoops.
In 2007, taking 120 years of Celtic history, a selection of 50 games, seasons, controversies, incidents and characters were selected and put to the vote on the Kerrydale Street (KDS) message board in a series of five polls. The KDS Messageboard members and visitors were then asked to discuss and vote on which selections best described the very essence of being a Celtic supporter.
The poll – which did not include individual players – was not looking for people’s favourite Celtic moment but rather those incidents and personalities which encapsulated the mix of joy, agony and frustration which comes with following the Bhoys.
The top two from each of the five polls then went head to head in a final vote off to decide the Top 10. As expected it was a tough battle and after thousands of votes the final result was as published below!
Note: since publication of the below in 2007, there are other incredible achievements that can be added, and further develop the Celtic history, e.g. Quadruple Treble, qualifying past Champions League group stages twice in a row, incredible comeback to win the league in 2007-08, second nine-in-a-row, victory over Barcelona in Champions League on Celtic’s 125th anniversary, home & away victories over Lazio to win a group stage for first time (in the European competitions), and the InVIncibles 2016-17 season.
